張り手のアサヒ、揉み手のキリン
2006年1-3月期、ビール系飲料トータルでの市場シェア1位の座を
キリンがついにアサヒから奪い返しました。
実に6年ぶり。
この久しぶりの逆転劇の立役者は、キリンの「のどごし生」。
癖のない味、シズル感のあるエモーショナルな
パッケージデザイン、そして現場営業のがんばり、など
総合力の勝利ということらしいです。
のどごし生は、第三のビールと呼ばれるジャンルの
トップブランドに育ちました。
発泡酒ジャンルのキリン「円熟」も売れていますね。
一方、アサヒは、第三のビールの「新生３」が不振。
数ヶ月前に売り上げ挽回のためネーミングやパッケージデザイン
をリニューアルしたばかりですが、あいかわらずパッとしません。
私も一度だけ「新生３」を試してみましたが、
なんてことのない味ですし、デザインも硬質的で魅力を感じない
ので、結局、二度と飲んでいないです。
私個人の感覚的な評価になってしまうのですが、
アサヒさんは、スーパードライのヒット以来、
技術志向に走りすぎのようです。技術過信です。
「うちの技術はすごいだろう！飲んでみなよ！」
みたいな雰囲気が感じられるんですよね。
これは、まるで消費者を「張り手」で圧倒しようとしてる
ようなものです。
「どうだ、どうだ、どうだ・・・」
受けて立つ消費者としては、すごいのはわかったけど、
疲れちゃった、と土俵をおりてしまった。
それで今、アサヒさんは一人相撲を続けてるわけです。
一方のキリンさん、スーパードライにはまだまったく
歯が立たないので、発泡酒や第三のビール市場に
活路を求めるしかない。
大げさですが、見栄もプライドも捨て、
「ぜひうちの商品を飲んでください。お願いします！」
と頭を下げ、「揉み手」をしながら消費者にすり寄っています。
消費者としては、悪い気はしないですね。
「なかなか殊勝じゃねぇか、そこまで頭を下げられちゃあ、
飲まないわけにはいかないなあ」
と意気に応えている。（笑）
ぐっさんが、キリンの営業マンに扮し、
店頭での試飲風景をそのまま再現したコマーシャルは
こうしたキリンさんの低姿勢を象徴するものでした。
「張り手のアサヒ」、対する「揉み手のキリン」
しばらくは、ハードアプローチよりソフトアプローチの
キリンさんの勢いが続くでしょう。
ただ、アサヒの新商品「ぐび生」は、ネーミングからして
これまでのアプローチを変えてきた気配がありますけどね。
